Who we help · E-commerce and DTC

Paid acquisition for e-commerce brands.

We help online brands acquire customers profitably with Google Shopping and Performance Max, Meta creative testing, custom media and better product pages, measured against contribution margin and repeat purchase rather than platform ROAS alone.

What's different

What changes the math.

  1. The product feed is creative

In Shopping and Performance Max, product titles, images and attributes decide which searches you appear for and how the ad looks. Feed quality is a performance lever, not an admin task.

  2. Margin varies by product

A blended ROAS target treats a 70% margin product and a 20% margin product the same. Grouping products by margin and bidding to profit keeps growth from quietly eroding it.

  3. The first order isn't the whole customer

If customers reorder, you can afford to pay more to acquire them, sometimes much more. Repeat purchase and refund rates change what a good acquisition cost looks like.

  4. Creative wears out at scale

As spend grows on Meta and TikTok, ads tire faster. Brands that scale well build a steady production rhythm, not a one-off shoot.

  5. Promotions distort the read

Sales, launches and seasonality move results more than most campaign changes. We plan tests around the calendar so promotions don't get mistaken for optimization.

Creative in practice

Tested, not guessed.

Campaign creative our team produced, set up as structured tests for this kind of business.

Angle test

Same jar, different reason to buy.

Variable
The problem the product solves: camera-ready skin versus sun and salt damage.
Held constant
Same skincare product, the same UGC format and length.
How we call it
CTR and conversion rate by angle. Angles that convert become separate concepts with their own hooks; angles that only earn clicks get cut.

Most products have several buyers with different reasons. Finding the reason that converts is worth more than polishing the ad.

Why it works

    Transcript

    Format test

    Talking head or tactile demo.

    Variable
Format: a presenter talking to camera versus a claymation product demo.
    Held constant
Same category (skincare, hydration), same 7–8 second slot, the same simple benefit.
    How we call it
Hook rate and cost per purchase by format. Animation often wins attention in feeds full of faces; the question is whether it also wins the sale.

Format diversity fights ad fatigue and gives the delivery system genuinely different creative to work with.

      Numbers we watch

      Measured like a business.

Definitions, not promises. Targets for each depend on your margins and model.

      MER (marketing efficiency ratio)
Total revenue divided by total marketing spend. A blended view that can't be inflated by platforms double-counting the same sale.
      New-customer acquisition cost
Marketing spend divided by first-time customers. Separates acquiring customers from re-selling to existing ones.
      Contribution margin after ads
Revenue minus product, shipping, payment and advertising costs. The number that says whether growth is actually profitable.
      Repeat purchase rate
The share of new customers who buy again within a set window, such as 60 or 90 days. It decides how much a first order is really worth.

      FAQ

      Common questions.

Is ROAS the right target for an e-commerce brand?

It's a useful in-platform signal but a poor master target. Platform ROAS ignores margin differences between products, double-counts sales across channels and says nothing about repeat purchase. We set targets from contribution margin and new-customer economics, then translate them into platform targets.

Should we use Performance Max or Standard Shopping?

Often both, for different jobs. Performance Max can find incremental reach across Google's inventory, while Standard Shopping gives more control and clearer reporting. We decide based on feed quality, conversion volume and how much visibility you need.

How do we know if Meta ads are actually driving sales?

Compare Meta's reported purchases with blended results and new-customer counts over time, and when spend allows, run a holdout or lift test. Post-purchase surveys add a useful signal for channels that influence people without a direct click.
